The Worst Booking Decision of 2017: Ellsworth Wins Money In The Bank

I know, I know, I’m being worked. WWE has me riled up about one of their match outcomes which will surely be rectified by the proper face getting one over on the dastardly heels. Honestly though, I feel like this is much more than that. I feel legitimately angry that James freakin Ellsworth was holding up the Money In The Bank briefcase. Someone who was just signed mere months ago, essentially because people on the web didn’t think he had a chin, was now ruining what should have been a momentous scene. After all of the hype that has gone into the Women’s Revolution, to have someone pull an Andy Kaufman in 2017 seems like the worst possible route WWE could take. Not to mention the fact that there were numerous interesting storylines that could have resulted from the match. A Becky Lynch win and heel turn or a Natalya push to the top would have been far more interesting results and would have been things that people would talk about in a positive light all year if done right.
Now part of me knows that this will lead to the match that everyone seems to be pushing for. Becky Lynch vs James Ellsworth seems inevitable right now. In the end, I guess that’s fine. That doesn’t change the fact that someone was robbed of a historic moment on Sunday by a jobber who no one will remember in five years. At this point, I don’t care if Roman Reigns announces that he is going to win the Universal and WWE championships on Raw or if John Cena comes back to enter into a rivalry with Randy Orton for the 3,278th time (a scientifically accurate number I might add), this was by far the worst decision WWE will make this year.
